Rocky Mountaineer Appoints John Furlong to Board of Directors

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA (March 22, 2011) – Internationally acclaimed, Rocky Mountaineer announced today that John Furlong has been appointed to its Board of Directors. He will begin to serve on the Board immediately, and will join eight other members that will lead and advise Rocky Mountaineer’s strategic development and growth initiatives as the company continues to expand its presence internationally.

Described as a sports hero, nation builder and ultimate crisis manager, Furlong created the vision that led a team that bid for, organized and staged one of the most successful Winter Olympic Games ever. His passion and focus from the bid phase through to the closing ceremonies truly inspired a nation and touched the hearts and minds of every Canadian. Prior to his role at VANOC, he served as the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Bid Committee. John Furlong is an officer of the Order of Canada and was given the Order of British Columbia.
