This route has it all, as you’ll enjoy some of the most breathtaking and varied rail scenery found anywhere in the world. Travel past stunning lakes, through the tranquil coastal rainforest and the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon into the vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. This is gold country where prospectors and gold seekers came from around the world to seek their fortunes in the late 1850s and early 1860s. You will visit the Gold Pan City of Quesnel, journey through the Rocky Mountain Trench, be awestruck by spectacular Mount Robson and cap off the journey in the largest Canadian Rockies national park.

Whistler to Quesnel
Board the world-renowned Rocky Mountaineer train at the Whistler Station. Enjoy breathtaking and varied scenery, including the winding lakeshores of Anderson and Seton Lakes, the desert-like conditions of the Fraser Canyon and the vast ranchlands of the Cariboo Plateau. Yourday concludes as the Rocky Mountaineer follows the banks of the Fraser River into Quesnel. Stay overnight in moderate accommodations in Quesnel.

Quesnel to Jasper
Continue eastward through the forests of northern British Columbia, home to plentiful wildlife, including a large population of moose. Enter the Rocky Mountain Trench, where the Rocky Mountains rise steeply to the north and the Cariboo Mountains soar to the south. Pass Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 12,972 feet, before arriving in Jasper this evening.
