News ReleasesAppointment Notice Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (January 19, 2009) –Rocky Mountaineer is pleased to announce the appointments of Elizabeth Johnsen as Director of Sales, USA and Kathleen Manuel as Executive Director, Procurement. With in-depth industry knowledge, travel and tourism experience and key customer contacts, Ms. Johnsen is a welcomed addition to Rocky Mountaineer’s well established international sales team. She will be responsible for the development and execution of the company’s strategic sales efforts across all channels in the US and her appointment is another step in Rocky Mountaineer's commitment to providing in-market sales support. Ms. Johnsen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the California Polytechnic State University. She has also served as allied co-chair for the Southern California American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) for the past eight years.
Over the past 20 years, Ms. Manuel has held increasingly responsible senior management positions including Vice President, Distribution and Marketing for the First Choice Group where she was responsible for all channels of distribution, as well as General Manager, Western Canada for Signature Vacations, where she oversaw all aspects of the business operating from B.C. and Alberta. Most recently, Ms. Manuel was Executive Director, Global Sales for Rocky Mountaineer where she led the strategic direction for world-wide sales initiatives of Rocky Mountaineer and its entities. She has extensive experience in business development and contract negotiations which will be invaluable in her new role with the organization. Rocky Mountaineer offers unique Western Canadian vacation packages and four spectacular rail routes through British Columbia and Alberta. Best known for the world-acclaimed Rocky Mountaineer train, a two-day, all daylight rail journey between Canada’s West and the Canadian Rockies, the company also offers trips onboard the Whistler Mountaineer train, a daily three-hour experience between the 2010 Winter Olympic host cities of Vancouver and Whistler, BC. Since its inception in 1990, the company has grown to be the largest privately owned passenger rail service in North America and has welcomed over one million guests onboard.
