Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada (April 28, 2009) – Rocky Mountaineer is celebrating its 20th operating season by offering not one, but two enticing reasons to explore Western Canada on a rail journey of a lifetime. Guests who book any Rocky Mountaineer vacation package from now until May 31, 2009 will be treated to an additional free night at a luxurious Fairmont hotel in Vancouver. Plus, travellers who choose GoldLeaf Service or any of the new Escorted Rail Tours, receive a complimentary return journey onboard the Whistler Mountaineer. This three-hour train trip travels through the stunning Sea to Sky Corridor between Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia - host destinations of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
"In light of the current economic climate, North Americans are choosing to take their vacations closer to home and this new offer provides greater incentive to experience the award-winning Rocky Mountaineer train,” says Hubert Wat, Vice President, Marketing of Rocky Mountaineer. “We are delighted to give travellers an opportunity to extend their vacation in beautiful British Columbia with an additional night’s stay on us at one of Vancouver’s magnificent Fairmont properties."
Western Canada offers some of the most spectacular scenery in the world and Rocky Mountaineer GoldLeaf Service is the ultimate way to see the majestic Canadian Rockies. Guests travel in bi-level dome coaches, which offer panoramic views of the rugged canyons, snow-capped mountain peaks and crystal clear lakes. In the lower level dining room, talented Onboard Chefs prepare gourmet meals from fresh local ingredients that celebrate the distinctive character of British Columbia and Alberta.
Escorted Rail Tours offer unique Western Canadian itineraries and the personalized service and expertise of a Tour Escort. Guests also have exclusive access to a private lounge car onboard the Rocky Mountaineer, which features entertaining and educational presentations such as wine tastings, natural history, regional storytelling and photography seminars.
To qualify for the additional free night’s stay at a Fairmont hotel in Vancouver, visitors must book a Rocky Mountaineer vacation package for at least two adults by May 31 for travel during the 2009 season, between May 1 and October 11. Those wishing to receive the added bonus of a return journey onboard the Whistler Mountaineer must book either a Rocky Mountaineer package in GoldLeaf Service or one of the new Escorted Rail Tours.
