This onboard position will suit personable, hardworking, organized individuals who have excellent time management skills, are independently motivated, and thrive in a close team atmosphere. Experience in a housekeeping or a cleaning role within the tourism and hospitality industry is an asset.
What Can You Expect?
An Onboard Cleaner works 2 to 4 trips per month. A trip is 2 to 4 days
Our guests travel for 2 or more days onboard the train, with overnight stops in Kamloops, Whistler or Quesnel. Our trains travel eastbound (between Vancouver and the Canadian Rockies destinations of Banff, Lake Louise or Jasper) or westbound (from the Canadian Rockies to Vancouver).
You will be working with the Train management, Host and Logistics teams to support cleanliness objectives throughout the train.
You will also be tasked with set-up of crew cars and maintaining cleaning supplies onboard.
You will be walking throughout the train cleaning coaches including all guest common areas, washrooms and open-air platforms, while the train is in motion with guests onboard.
You will have daily interactions with guests.
This Position Requires:
Successful candidates must be able to commit to working the whole season (April to October) without any outside restraints to work, including school commitments.
A clear understanding of guest service excellence and expectations.
Strong organization and time management skills.
Fluency in the English language. French, Mandarin, Spanish and German considered an asset.
A team player with a positive “can do” attitude.
Experience in a guest facing, housekeeping or cleaning role.
Extensive walking and standing throughout the shift.
Exceptional physical endurance, and emotional stamina with the ability to work long days.
Continuously reaching, bending and lifting. Must be able to lift and carry items throughout the train.
Comfortable with guest interactions and conversation.
Travel away from home base for up to 4 days at a time.
While You're at Work:
12 to 15 hour days.
Shared accommodation with one other team member is provided at each overnight destination.
