Rocky Mountaineer announces new train travel experiences exclusively for travellers from China

Shanghai, China (September 10, 2019) – Canada’s Rocky Mountaineer launches new premium travel experiences that provide travellers from China with privileged access to the Canadian Rocky Mountains by train.

“Rocky Mountaineer is an exclusive travel experience that offers unparalleled journeys in our spacious glass-domed train cars thanks to the pristine scenery, local gourmet cuisine, and attentive service from our onboard hosts,” explained Steve Sammut, President and Chief Executive Officer. “We are so pleased to share our train journeys in the Canadian Rocky Mountains with even more people in China who are looking for premium, authentic experiences.”

The Rocky Mountaineer trains travel only during the day, with overnight stays in comfortable hotels, and feature oversized windows, so guests don’t miss a moment of the scenery. The trains take guests to vibrant cities and stunning national parks, connecting the iconic city of Vancouver with Banff, Lake Louise and Jasper in the Rocky Mountains. While off the train, guests can enjoy a variety of activities, including hiking, sight-seeing, shopping and dining.

New for 2020, Rocky Mountaineer is offering two premium vacation packages, which offer the world-renowned experience in Mandarin with considerate Mandarin-speaking hosts onboard the train, along with a selection of Canadian-inspired and Chinese-inspired dishes. A Mandarin-speaking tour director will be available to assist guests on the train and in hotels.

The Rocky Mountaineer all-inclusive vacation packages for 2020 are seven days and six nights, featuring two days onboard the train with the Mandarin-language service. Both packages include six breakfasts and five lunches, ensuring the travellers are well accommodated. The packages are:

  • First Passage to the West Highlights: This package features two nights in Vancouver; two days on Rocky Mountaineer between Vancouver and Banff; two nights in Banff; one night in Calgary; sight-seeing tours of Vancouver, Banff, Lake Louise; and a helicopter tour in the Rocky Mountains.
  • Journey through the Clouds Excursion: This package features one night in Vancouver; two days on Rocky Mountaineer between Vancouver and Jasper; one night in Jasper; two nights in Banff; one night in Calgary; sight-seeing tours of Vancouver, Banff, Lake Louise; and a helicopter tour in the Rocky Mountains.

The packages start at $3,614 CAD per person, based on double occupancy.

Travellers looking to experience Rocky Mountaineer can plan for one of more than 50 Mandarin-language journeys in 2020; or take advantage of the full schedule of English-language departures, both of which operate from April to October. Travellers can arrange for one of the Rocky Mountaineer developed vacation packages; or book the two-day train journey exclusively as part of their wider Canadian travel plans. This schedule builds on the success of 2019, where Rocky Mountaineer welcomed more than 1,000 guests from China, across its English and Mandarin journeys.
