Rocky Mountaineer welcomes its two-million guest to the Canadian Rockies

VANCOUVER, B.C. - September 5, 2017 -Today, Rocky Mountaineer welcomed its two-millionth guest for a luxury train journey into the Canadian Rockies. As part of the celebration, President Steve Sammut greeted guests at the Rocky Mountaineer station in Vancouver before they departed on their journey and explained the significance of the milestone.

“Rocky Mountaineer is a Canadian owned and operated company that has been welcoming guests from around the globe for 27 years. What began as a small company with a big dream, has steadily grown into a significant contributor to the BC and Alberta tourism industries and the economy as a whole,” explained Sammut. “It is an incredible honour to welcome our two-millionth guest and we look forward to welcoming millions more as we continue to grow the company.”

To honour the occasion, Rocky Mountaineer provided a surprise upgrade to two guests from its SilverLeaf Service to its luxurious GoldLeaf Service for their two-day train journey from Vancouver to Jasper. Joanne Scanlan, together with her husband Tom Neid, from Colorado Springs received the upgrade.

In GoldLeaf Service, the couple will experience a bi-level, glass-domed train car with panoramic views on the upper level, and an elegant dining room on the lower level. In the upper level, they will enjoy reclining, heated seats and engaging storytelling of the passing regions. In the dining room, they will choose from a selection of locally inspired made-to-order menu options, featuring ingredients such as fresh salmon, prime Alberta beef, local vegetables and Okanagan fruits.
