Rocky Mountaineer welcomes Tyson Matheson as Vice President of Global Human Resources

Vancouver, B.C. (January 8, 2019) – Rocky Mountaineer is pleased to welcome Tyson Matheson as the company’s Vice President of Global Human Resources. In this role, Matheson will be responsible for driving the global human resources strategies, including employee engagement, people recruitment and development, and organizational culture.

“We are excited to have Tyson Matheson join the Rocky Mountaineer team,” said Steve Sammut, President of Rocky Mountaineer. “His extensive background in the tourism and travel industry, combined with his exceptional leadership experience, will be valuable as we continue investing in our people and talent.”

Tyson’s began his human resources career at WestJet where he advanced to Vice President, People Relations and Culture, and managed a team of 100 people. He then transitioned to the operations side of the business as Vice President, Inflight Services, where he led a team of 3,500 employees, including flight attendants, and those working in the safety, guest services, provisioning, onboard product, and technical learning and development. In 2017, Tyson relocated to Toronto to join Walmart Canada as Vice President, Associate Relations, where he incorporated a technology-driven approach to better align their employee brand with customer brand.
