Chuckanut is derived from the Native American word meaning "beach on a bay with a small entrance". This is the only spot where the mountains of the Cascade Range meet the sea.
Puget Sound is a complex system of interconnected marine waterways and basins extending from Deception Pass, in the north, to Olympia, Washington in the south.
Fraser River Swing Bridge
Originally built as a double-deck bridge for vehicle, pedestrian, and rail traffic to cross the Fraser River in New Westminster, the swing bridge was converted to a single-deck rail-only bridge in 1937.
